| This 1959 John Deere 830 was owned by Mark Miller. Mark worked for Fisher Implement for 43 years in the service department as a tech and Service Manager. He retired in 2000. In the last few years, Mark had battled lung cancer. One of his last wishes was that the rust in his 830 fenders had gotten fixed. His tractor was brought to the Tangent store where a group of employees and friends got to work of fixing it up for him. The fenders were very rusty where the support ribs are. The damaged metal was cut out and replaced. The grill was removed and dents repaired. The lights were repaired and repainted. The float ride seat was rebuilt. A new muffler and steering wheel were installed. The sheet metal was stripped, primed, sanded, painted, sanded again, and a final coat applied. The rest of the tractor was given a freshen up coat of paint as well. Travis Jorde was very generous and donated the correct decals for the project. The tractor was delivered to Mark by the crew who had done the repairs, and other friends and family were there for its homecoming. The day the tractor was returned was one of Mark's last good days. He passed away a week and a half later. His tractor is now on display at the Tangent, Fisher Implement Dealership. |
